Portraits of Courage.

My husband is an Iraqi Freedom Veteran, by the grace of God he was not injured….but so many were.. we can help these veterans simply by purchasing this book.

In February of 2017 President George W Bush released a book called “Portraits of Courage: A Commander in Chief’s Tribute to America’s Warriors.” to benefit post 9/11 veterans.

Marine Corps Sergeant Michael Joseph Leonard Politowicz is one of dozens of wounded veterans profiled in Bush’s new work George W. Bush

The book is of his paintings of Veterans that he took the time to get to know before painting. Some of these Veterans have visible wounds while others are invisible wounds like PTSD. Their stories go along with the portraits of each Veteran he invited to his farm and befriended.

These very intimate stories of what these men and women went through can be very hard to read, but in some of the interviews with these veterans they found that they didn’t need to hide behind their wounds, Mr Bush gave them the ability to accept the way they are without shame.

Bush donates a large portion of the book’s proceeds to the George W. Bush Presidential Center, a non-profit organization formed to help post-Sept.11 veterans and their families successfully make the change back to the civilian world.

You can order this very powerful and touching book while helping Veterans and their families.

    1. I believe he didn’t start until after his Presidency…I bought the book for my mom and I’m sure that’s what she said was written in it..

  4. What a great project. I didn’t realize President Bush was so artistic. Thank you to your husband and family for your service and sacrifice!
